  1. Under running water, rinse the moriyo well and soak in water for 30 minutes.
  2. In a pan, over medium heat, heat ghee and add the soaked moriyo. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until slightly golden.
  3. Add the milk to the pan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and continue cooking on low for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Once the moriyo is cooked and the mixture thickens, add sugar and cardamom powder. Make sure to stir well and dissolve the sugar. If using, add grated coconut and mix well. Cook for another 5 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly before serving.
  6. Serve garnished with chopped nuts.
