Ingredients
Directions
- In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. Let stand for about 5 minutes or until frothy.
- In another large mixing bowl, mix the flour and salt. Make a well in the center of the flour and add the yeast mixture and the olive oil.
- Mix the dough until it comes together and then knead for about 5-7 minutes on a lightly floured surfac until smooth and elastic.
- Form the dough into a ball and place in a greased bowl, cover the bowl with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 30 minutes. Optional: After 15 minutes of rising the dough in a warm place you could preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
- After 30 minutes or when the dough has doubled in size, punch down and roll out on a generously floured surface to the desired thickness.
- Once you have rolled out the dough, place it onto a pizza stone or baking sheet covered with cornmeal.
- Top the dough with your choice of toppings, and bake in the center of the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is a golden brown.
